ALLT I HEMMET

A Playful Symphony of Colors in a Historic Copenhagen Apartment

Nadia and Alexander's home in Hellerup, north of Copenhagen, is anything but minimalist. Their space is a joyful and curated mix of bold colors, vintage treasures, and unique handcrafted furniture—a true reflection of their passion for design and storytelling.

With a background in creative arts and a shared love for craftsmanship, the couple founded their design platform MAK MISHO, where they bring to life distinctive, made-to-order furniture that celebrates individuality. Their home is an extension of this ethos—a vibrant playground of pink walls, deep green accents, and whimsical details that blur the line between art and function.

Color as a Statement

When they moved into their 120-square-meter historic apartment, the walls were a blank canvas. Opting for a striking pink as the base color, they infused the space with a warmth that immediately set the tone for the rest of the decor. This choice was anything but random: "We wanted a space that felt uplifting and inviting—pink is a statement, but it’s also surprisingly versatile,” says Nadia.

From the emerald green dining chairs to the eclectic mix of rugs and vintage glassware, every element in their home adds a dynamic layer to the overall aesthetic. Rather than adhering to trends, they focus on pieces that tell a story, whether it's a flea market find, a repurposed antique, or a custom-made MAK MISHO design.

A Mix of Old and New

Their dining table, an eye-catching glass slab supported by two sculptural stone lions, is a perfect example of their fearless approach to design. “We love mixing historical elements with modern materials,” explains Alexander. The space is further enhanced by handmade cushions, playful ceramic details, and lighting fixtures that range from classic Verner Panton to hand-painted contemporary designs.

In contrast to the vibrant living areas, their bedroom embraces a slightly more subdued palette. With lavender and white striped walls, an open wardrobe showcasing an array of colorful clothing, and a vintage Swedish bedframe, it still carries the couple’s signature mix of function and artistic expression.

A Home That Evolves

For Nadia and Alexander, interior design is an ever-evolving journey. “We don’t believe in perfect homes—our space changes with us,” says Nadia. Whether it’s rearranging furniture, introducing new art, or refining details, they approach their home with the same experimental mindset that defines MAK MISHO.

At its core, their home is a reflection of their love for color, craftsmanship, and individuality—a vibrant celebration of design that feels alive, personal, and wonderfully unconventional.
